Personal Assistance
Relay of Urgent Messages
The insurance company will help relay any urgent messages for the insured, related to events covered under the policy.
Dispatch of Medication
If the insured urgently requires prescribed medication that is unavailable locally, the company will arrange for its delivery. However, the insured must bear the medication costs.
General Information Services
The company offers information over the phone on topics such as travel advisories, embassy details, currency information, visas, vaccinations, health tips, time zones, and weather updates.
Replacement Staff
If the insured is traveling for professional purposes and requires hospitalization for over 5 days or repatriation, the company will cover travel costs for a designated replacement to continue the professional duties. Costs for wages, board, or lodging of the replacement are not covered.
Hijack Coverage
If the aircraft or ship the insured is traveling on is hijacked for more than 24 hours, the company will compensate according to the policy limits. A written statement from the relevant authority confirming the hijack and its duration is required.
Medical Transportation and Repatriation
Medical Transportation or Repatriation
If the insured suffers an accident or illness while traveling, the company will cover the cost of transferring or repatriating the insured to a suitable medical center or their home. The company’s medical team will determine the appropriate destination and remain in contact with the treating doctors. Rescue costs are not covered.
Transport of a Companion Due to Hospitalization
If the insured is hospitalized for more than five days, the company will cover the return transportation (economy class) for a companion to visit the insured, up to policy limits.
Stay of a Companion Due to Hospitalization
In cases where hospitalization exceeds five days, the company will also cover accommodation expenses for a designated companion, subject to policy limits. Maintenance expenses are not included.
Transportation or Repatriation of Accompanying Insureds
If the insured’s condition prevents continuation of the trip, the company will cover transportation for up to six accompanying insured persons to the hospital or to their usual place of residence, within policy limits.
Medical Expenses
Medical Expenses Abroad (Including COVID-19)
If the insured becomes ill or has an accident while traveling, the company will cover hospitalization, surgery, medical fees, and prescribed medications until stabilization, subject to policy limits. Emergency dental treatment for natural teeth is also covered for immediate pain relief, excluding costs for crowns and dentures.
For COVID-19, the policy covers medical and hospitalization expenses as well as accommodation costs for mandatory quarantine up to $80 per day for 14 days, with limitations on eligible expenses.
First Medical Assistance Abroad
The company covers the initial costs for emergency medical, surgical, and hospital treatment, as well as ambulance expenses, up to policy limits. Coverage for further treatment is excluded if the cause is pre-existing.
Pharmaceutical Expenses
The cost of prescribed medication is covered while traveling, up to the point where the insured is stabilized enough to continue traveling or return home.
Specific Exclusions
The coverage excludes treatment for pre-existing conditions, substance misuse, refusal of medically advised transfers, rehabilitation, preventive exams, and events involving medical tourism, terminal illness, or pandemics.
Repatriation of Mortal Remains
Transport or Repatriation of the Deceased Insured
In the event of the insured’s death, the company will arrange and cover the transportation of the mortal remains to the place of interment, cremation, or funeral ceremony at their usual residence. The policy does not cover the actual interment, cremation, or funeral ceremony costs. Legal representatives must provide necessary documentation, such as a death certificate and expense receipts.
Luggage
Indemnity for Checked-in Luggage (Damage, Loss, Theft)
The company will assist the insured with procedures against the airline in the event of definitive loss or external damage to checked-in luggage. The company will also provide compensation, in addition to what the airline offers, up to the policy limit. To claim for loss, damage, or theft, the insured must present a Property Irregularity Report (PIR) and supporting documents.
Compensation for Baggage Delay
If checked-in luggage is delayed by more than 6 hours, the company will compensate for the purchase of essential items, up to the policy limit. This does not apply if the delay occurs within the province/state of the insured’s residence.
Specific Exclusions
The coverage does not include claims involving professional materials, travel tickets, documents, money, jewelry, or valuables left in unattended vehicles unless all security measures are taken. It also excludes claims related to intoxication, unauthorized drivers, or instances involving negligence with vehicle security.
Trip Cancellation
The company will reimburse the insured for cancellation fees incurred if the trip is canceled for reasons occurring after the insurance is purchased, but before the journey begins. Coverage includes serious illness or injury, official obligations, job-related changes, extraordinary events like severe property damage, or issues like theft of travel documents. Specific documentation is required to process a claim.
Exclusions
Coverage does not include failure to provide essential travel documents, non-emergency medical reasons, pandemics, recoverable costs from other sources, and incidents involving vehicles over 3,500 kg.
Transport Departure Delay
If the insured experiences a minimum delay of 4 hours in the departure of their contracted public air transport, the company will reimburse additional expenses for transport, accommodation, and meals up to the specified policy limit. To claim, the insured must provide a certificate from the carrier detailing the delay and original receipts for related expenses.
Curtailment Due to Serious Family Matters
If the insured must end a trip early due to a serious family matter, such as the death or extended hospitalization of a relative, the company will arrange for their return to their usual place of residence or to the location of interment/hospitalization. Additionally, the company will reimburse the costs of curtailing the trip for specific reasons, including serious family health issues, official requirements, unforeseen work events, or extraordinary circumstances.
Documentation, such as a death certificate or medical report, must be provided to claim this cover. Specific exclusions apply, such as pandemics, non-emergency medical treatments, and recoverable expenses.
Personal Accidents Involving Transport
If the insured dies due to an accident while using public transport on a trip, the company will compensate the beneficiary up to the insured sum stated in the policy. The coverage also includes permanent accidental disability resulting from such an accident.
Compensation is subject to limitations for people over 70 years of age and children. The public transport covered includes planes, ships, trains, and coaches, along with related ground transport like taxis and buses. Beneficiaries must provide appropriate documentation to claim compensation. Specific exclusions and injury-related conditions apply.
